It's been about 3 years now...the empty space on our website, where this about us was supposed to be. I'm not sure why I never got around to it, didn't have the time I guess, or maybe I was too busy playing or planning or stuck back in the real world. I never realized why for sure until I started tonight Feb 28 2007. I don't think I really knew who we were, where this was going...or how it would end. More often than not it seemed in the beginning like it was all for fun, something to pass the time just another far too expensive hobby id think, but not anymore. It's become a passion for some of us, a way of life...something that comes up when we talk almost as much as how are you doing, or how's your wife? It became stories you tell every time you get together to play, or during the week on the phone from work....man do you remember when?? Or could you believe that shot! Even the Christmas dinner table or family events are another chance to relive a fire fight if only for a few minutes... I guess now I am I'm finally able to put about us into words, because I know who we are, what were doing, and where we will go. Most of you know Team P.U.D. has an odd beginning. It started out as a bit of joke idea by Bandito when we all used to get together to play Halo on Saturday nights. He of course needed to give the bungie.net clans of the world a bit of hell made a mock team named after Pud, who was fond of that name, and played Halo under it. We would all get together, play some games have a great time and post about it on that forum during the week...and this went on for some time until the Christmas that changed it all. One year being the good man that he is, Steve decided to pick up bruins tickets as a gift to the core of people who came every Saturday, and the six of us went out to the game. {Myself, Pud, Bandito, Steve, Mo and Mafia}We all had a great time, watched the bruins do what they do best (lose) and on the train ride home started talking about new ways to inflict pain on each other, naturally someone said paint ball and we started really thinking about it. With the promise that if we all went in on it we would start playing I went out and bought my and the team's first gun, a custom 98.... The team has evolved a long way from the original six, of those 4 still are very active. Mafia went off to college in Ohio, and Mobi has chosen to serve our country honorably in the Air Force. We have all changed a lot from those times of a few customs some cheap paint and no idea what a chronograph or FPS was...as someone was heard saying on the way back on the first day...It's a great game, but I didn't think wed bleed so much...and it is a great game, teaching sportsmanship, honor, respect, and the agony of defeat or the joys of wining. We've grown over the past four years, not just in size, but we've grown into our own distinguished team, with a distinct playing style, and a name that brings respect and honor with it, to every game we play. Here's a bit about the style of the team itself... I think of our team as more of a family of paintballers. Pud is often found of saying were not so much team as we are a collaboration of skilled players who play under the same banner, often times doing there own thing and making a cameo here and there to help someone out. I think at first a lot of our recognition came from the fact we did split up a lot and worked in smaller groups with other teams and spread ourselves around that way. That has changed quite a bit in the last year, and now we have really bonded ourselves together and have become quite a force on our own. Using our more aggressive players for the flanking maneuver while our calm back men act as spotters and communication, also providing cover fire for attacks. We have also been lucky enough to surround ourselves with good teams like Yankee division, and PE to practice with, and play along side of. I didn't notice what effect we really had in our area til we started making games where people knew of us, and wanted to make sure they were with us. Or the times we have been handicapped with fewer players simply for showing up. I even heard a young kid out at strategy plus say wow look, its Team P.U.D....Had we done it? Had we finally become as Bandito so eloquently puts, Team P.U.D. famous. Perhaps we had! That really made my day out there, and sure enough somehow we pulled out a win despite the odds.
Over the time people have come and gone, but we always look for the same qualities every time. People just like the original six, dedicated, good sportsman with a love for the game, and a love for the team. Were not the best team in scenario ball, were are certainly not the worst team either but as long as one person still goes out as a team P.U.D. member the field will have one of the coolest teams in paintball out there. It's an honor playing with you guys, every single time. We have really made this something, it's not a game it's a life style, and partnership that can't be broken. you guys who aren't actually my brothers have become almost as close, and to have my two real brothers to my left and right on the field makes it that much better, (and not even just on the field but the after parties, the birthdays and all the other things we do as a team and friends) time with them, and with you guys is why I do it all, the planning, the driving, the computer time and tracking you all down by phone, its all worth it for that and I am honored to be on this team. Thanks to every Team P.U.D. member and the future ones to come. Here's to another great year! And even more after that...
